Mountain Experience Staff

Overview

MX Director, Jason Edwards, on top of Mt. Everest in '01!Many of our Mountain Experience leaders have been guiding and leading international expeditions since the early '80's, and guiding on peaks in North America since 1977. Our professional trip leaders have led adventures on most continents, ranging from high altitude mountaineering expeditions to treks, safaris and climbs around the world. These trips have included expedition leadership of successful Mt. Everest expeditions, Mt. McKinley, Aconcagua, Mt. Rainier, and peaks in Africa, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Mexico, The Yukon, Tibet, Nepal, Russia, and Europe.

Several of our guides have also worked (or still work) for Rainier Mountaineering Inc. (RMI) on Mt. Rainier and Mt. McKinley, and for many other guide services in the United States and around the world.

Our committed trip leaders also speak many of the languages in countries we travel, which also helps expedite travel arrangements and brings us closer to the local culture. Each of our trips is led by a western guide, and the local guides we work with throughout the world further our "cultural goal" by exposing participants to things they might otherwise miss when traveling with all western guides.

Most of our guides are college educated and have a variety of world-wide experiences that enhance the enjoyment of our programs.

Jason Edwards guiding on Mt. RainierGuide Certification

Our Mountain Experience Guides follow the standard practices employed by American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) and the UIAGM during our mountaineering and trekking adventures, and many of our guides are certified by these organizations—an assurance that you will be looked after with the utmost professional alpine care.

Guide Training

Mountain Experience Staff Can Show you The Way!Our guides are continually updating their formal training, and all of our lead and assistant guides are either Emergency Certified Technician's (EMT's), or Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certified, and each one has experience giving such aid in the wilderness or in third-world environments. Our guides also have Level II or III avalanche certification and have taken many rescue courses, seminars, and participated or directed rescues in various types of terrain around the world--with some of them at altitudes as high as 28,000'.

Safety Record

Our guides and trip leaders use sound judgment during our adventures, and go to great lengths to maintain the highest level of safety possible in a given situation, which is our first priority on any trip. Our safety record is excellent, and we strive to continue this trend as we lead a variety of adventures around the world.
