In 2001, Maximo was a guide on our Mt. Everest Expedition, which climbed the South Col route through Nepal. On May 23, 2001, Max became the second Peruvian to climb the 29,035' peak, and with that effort became a national hero. One of Maximo's Huascaran climbers writes: Maximo was great! Maximo
Henostroza is one of our more experienced technical guides, and has been guiding
in the mountains of Peru since the late 1970's. His ascents include most of Peru's
challenging climbs, including many ascents of Huascaran, Alpamayo, Pisco, Huandoy, and a
host of others. He is also one of our trekking guides, and has led many treks throughout
the Cordillera Blanca and other ranges in the country. Machu Picchu is one
of his favorite trekking destinations, and
he is usually one of our guides on those adventures.
In addition to leading many of our "organized and
advertised" climbs and treks, we also "exclusively book" Maximo's United
States clients, and can easily arrange private climbs and treks in Peru with him. These
programs allow participants to experience Peru as a smaller party with a local guide.
