Mountain Guide, Mountain Experience

Kristen Ward brings some serious outdoor leadership skills and mountaineering experience to the guide staff of Mountain Experience. For the past several years, Kristen has worked as a guide on a number of international trips for us, including Kilimanjaro, the Mexican volcanoes, and our Mt. Everest Base Camp trek. During the summers she also guides for Rainier Mountaineering Inc. (RMI) on Mt. Rainier, including summit climbs, seminars, and climbing schools.  Kristen is also an outdoor educator for youth groups, ages 14 to 18, and has lead trips in Alaska, Washington, Oregon and California for these aspiring adventurers.

Kristen’s education includes a degree in Recreation Administration and Leisure Studies from Washington State University with an emphasis on Environment Studies. She is now working towards her teaching certificate and is looking forward to blending her adventurous life with a teaching career at the K-8 level.

Kristen lives in Leavenworth with her husband, MX guide Jeff Ward, where she spends her "free time" running trails with Jeff, and her dog Murphy (she's run a number of marathons). She has also climbed with Jeff in Peru, Thailand, Canada, and has made many successful rock and ice climbing ascents throughout the west.
