Senior Alpine Mountain Guide

John Lucia, an experienced and Senior Alpine Guide with Mountain Experience Adventure Travel, and has led a number of our Kilimanjaro photo safari expeditions, and is familiar with the pace and ins-and-outs of African and South American travel. He’s a seasoned third world traveler on many continents, and is ready to handle most challenges thrown his way.

John has been playing in the mountains since his early childhood. He began skiing when he was 11, having been taught this skill by his mother in the Swiss Alps outside of Zermatt, Switzerland. At the age of 13, John began climbing with his father, and ten years later, he led his 50-year-old father up the Exum Ridge of the Grand Teton, in Wyoming.

Since he began guiding, John has followed his passion for the mountains to the far reaches of the earth, having guided and climbed in Mexico, Argentina (Aconcagua), Bolivia, Alaska (Mt. McKinley, several times-including 1 traverse), Kilimanjaro (several ascents), Cascades, Tetons, and has over 75 ascents of Mt. Rainier in Washington State, where he's been a guide with Rainier Mountaineering, Inc. (RMI).  During the months of November through January, John is a guide for Adventure Network International (ANI), where he's been a seasonal guide in Antarctica, where he leads climbers up the highest peak on the continent, Mt. Vinson (16,501'). John is also a Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

During John's free time, he travel extensively, and enjoys surfing and exploring remote areas of the globe.

John can be easily contacted via email at JohnLucia@mountainexperience.com about any of his exciting and upcoming trips.
