Muir Snowfield & Ingraham Glacier--April 29-May 1, 2004
AM Photo of Ingraham Flats 5-1-04The Muir snowfield is in good shape, and while the snow is still soft, it is possible to make it up and down the snowfield without snowshoes.

On the evening of April 30/May 1, Jason Edwards & partner made a one-day attempt from Paradise to climb the mountain via the Ingraham Glacier route. Of route notes, it appears that a mudslide descended down from the top of Cathedral Gap, on the main climbing route...sometime during the heat of late autumn, 2003. The mudslide carved a groove down the main part of the route through the rocks, and climbers can expect more rockfall in the area than "usual" in that area. It's also a bit tougher to find the route up and down "The Gap," until the route is "kicked in" better through use by more climbers and guided parties.

Jason & partner turned around at 12,700', after climbing the Ingraham Headwall.
