Peru
Advanced Climbing Expedition 2004An
Adventure of Many Peaks!
We are proud to offer another trip to Peru for
some fantastic advanced climbing. Peaks
will include warm-up climbs of Pisco and Chopicalqui. More
advanced ascents include Artesonraju. All
of these peaks are either 5,000 meter or 6,000 meter peaks, and
Artesonraju is a steep alpine ice climb, and are a super challenge for the
experienced alpinist!
Our
2004 trip will be conducted as a "private expedition," and currently
the trip is filled with three experienced climbers.
In years past, our Peruvian expeditions
have successfully climbed Huascaran, Nevado Alpamayo, Toqllaraju, Nevado Ishinca, Ishinca Chico and Nevado
Urus.
Needless to say...our
group of three experienced climbers is looking forward to this trip!

Background
Requirements
Fitness:
Most of the climb days in Peru typically require around 4-10 hours of
effort, but some days can be as long as 14-16 hours at high altitude on
our summit attempts. The technical ascents require climbers to have
strong technical backgrounds. Because of of the typical challenges faced
during this trip, we recommend all participants be
in a rigorous physical training program for several months prior to trip
departure. Check our Training
Overview for more information and training tips.
Experience:
Participants should have completed a basic mountaineering course and
have advance experience using crampons and ice axe, or have equivalent
experience. High altitude experience on steep ice is required for this program.
